HQ Accepts #ALSIceBucketChallenge, Donates to ALS Research

Recently, HeiTech Headquarters was nominated for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by a team of HeiTech employees at the National Benefits Center in Lee’s Summit, MO. Never one to ignore a challenge, President and CEO, Heidi Gerding, along with 12 other headquarters staff heartily submitted to the ice water dousing in the courtyard in the back of our headquarters facility.

In addition to completing the Ice Bucket Challenge, HeiTech Services made a donation to the ALS Foundation on behalf of all of our employees. ALS or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, often referred to as Lou Gehrig disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. This progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to the “death” of these neurons, and when that happens, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost, leading to total paralysis and eventual death of the patient. There is no known cure for this deadly disease.
