Extending Support for Our Nation’s Heroes

Landover, Md. – Each year, HeiTech Services strives to increase its presence and impact as a good corporate citizen. We understand the importance of giving back and we take this assignment to the heart. We are proud to share that corporate-wide donations were recently provided to two much deserving and remarkable organizations: Luke’s Wings and the Warrior Canine Connection.

Luke’s Wings provides support to our nation’s service members who have been wounded in battle.  Recognizing the immediate need for families to be with their loved ones at such a difficult time, they provide families with the means to visit during the service member’s hospitalization and rehabilitation.  By purchasing travel agency services and travel tickets for loved ones, Luke’s Wings provides an immediate and invaluable service to the families of our men and women at arms while also helping to encourage and motivate the service member’s recovery. Since our introduction in 2011, HeiTech Services and its employees have provided more than $35,000 in contributions to support for Luke’s Wings with their mission to reunite wounded warriors and family members.

The Warrior Canine Connection utilizes Canine Connection Therapy to help warriors recovering from the stress of combat reconnect with their families, communities, and life. The organization pairs trained service dogs with wounded service members who were left with physical and mental wounds from war. Puppies are purpose-bred for service in three key areas: (1) temperament, (2) strength, or (3) health. The puppies are then socialized with “petters” that include active service members, veterans, recovering warriors, and civilian volunteers. At 10 weeks, the puppies are given “puppy parents” that care for them until they turn 2 years old. The dogs have to master many skills and tasks and meet other strict temperament and health requirements. Not every dog makes the cut. The dogs that do make the cut, participate in a “Graduation Day” where they are transferred to the wounded warrior in need.

“We take pride in the fact that, as an organization, we are in position to make a lasting impact in this world,” stated Executive Vice President, Jim Clement. “This year, we were able to tie-in our long-term support for our nation’s service members with our love and compassion for animals. We commend Luke’s Wings and the Warrior Canine Connection for their efforts to support our nation’s heroes. We are honored to have been afforded the opportunity to support these organizations fulfill their missions.”

The donations were made at the corporate-level on behalf of all HeiTech employees. We invite you to learn more about these organizations and to consider offering your support, either monetarily or through volunteerism, as appropriate.
