Bear Tracks Youth Database Software Instructions for Installing Version 4.1.0
Welcome to the Bear Tracks Youth Database Software version 4.1.0 installation download page. Use this page if the BearTracks Youth Database Software is not installed on your machine and you wish to perform a complete installation. If, however, a previous version of the BearTracks Youth Database Software is already installed on your machine and you want to upgrade to version 4.1.0, please click on the following link:http://www.heitechservices.com/dol/youth_beartracks_upgrade.html for instructions. IMPORTANT: In order to install the Bear Tracks Youth Database Software you must have a good working knowledge of file directories in Microsoft Windows. If you do not have experience with Windows Explorer or My Computer and have not performed tasks such as creating directories, changing file names and backing up files, then you should not attempt to install the system. Instead, please contact your IT support personnel to install the software. If your organization does not have IT support available please click on Technical Assistance to contact one of our technicians.
Step 1 |
Create the folder: "NAWIA" on your hard drive (normally located at C:\). This will become your Installation Folder. |
Step 2 |
Click here to download the program files. Extract the contents of the zip file to the Installation Folder created in Step 1. |
Step 3 |
Locate the MSAccess.exe file by selecting Start...Search...For Files or Folders, then clicking on All Files and Folders and entering "MSAccess.exe" in the "All or part of the file name" text box. Click Search. |
Step 4 |
Once the file is found, right-click on it and select "Send To..Desktop..Create Shortcut." Locate the new shortcut on the desktop, right-click on it and select properties. See Figure 1 below. |
Step 5 |
Click on the Shortcut tab and place the cursor at the end of the path that appears in the Target text box. Add a space at the end of the path then add the following text (including quotation marks):
"C:\NAWIA\nawiay.mde" /wrkgrp "C:\NAWIA\NAWIA.mdw"
Cut and paste from the above command if that is helpful. |
Step 6 |
Click Apply then OK to save your changes and return to the desktop. |
Step 7 |
Double click on the shortcut for the Youth Program:"Shortcut to MSACCESS.exe". When the logon screen appears enter "nawia10" for the Name and leave the Password blank, then click OK. |
Step 8 |
You should be prompted to re-link the tables. Click "OK". The Installation Folder will appear by default. Select the back-end database file (wiadatay.mdb) and click Open. A "Re-link Successful" message will appear when the process is complete. Click "OK" and the main menu will appear. |
