Washington SmartCEO Names HeiTech Services to its 2010 Future 50 List

HeiTech Services has been named as a 2010 Washington SmartCEO magazine Future 50 Award winner. The Future 50 program recognizes the 50 fastest-growing companies in the Greater Washington area based on employee and revenue growth, and over the past several years, HeiTech Services has experienced tremendous growth. Since 2006, HeiTech Services has enjoyed a 481 percent growth in employee count and more than a 413 percent increase in annual revenue. Collectively, this year’s Future 50 companies employed more than 29,000 people and generated over $9 billion in revenue.

The 2010 Future 50 companies were featured in the January issue of Washington SmartCEO magazine, the publication’s fifth annual list of the winners. On January 28, 2010, Washington SmartCEO hosted a basketball-themed “Nothing but Net” Future 50 event at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City to recognize the honorees.

HeiTech Services’ executive management team, President and CEO Heidi Gerding and Executive Vice President James Clement, attended the gala event to mark this momentous occasion. The executive team was joined by several members of its senior management and business development teams, as well as by Tony Cord, a well-known executive dealmaker and salesman who became aware of HeiTech Services achievements and nominated the company for the Future 50 award.

"HeiTech Services is pleased to receive this recognition from Washington SmartCEO magazine and to be named among such an elite group of companies,” said Ms. Gerding. “HeiTech Services’ growth is directly attributable to the outstanding work done by our employees each day. With the company’s increased investment in employee training and professional development, we anticipate continued success and another record-setting year of achievements.”

“Each winner has effectively translated their passion and innovation into tremendous growth and success,” says Jaime Park, Publisher at SmartCEO magazine. “We are honored to recognize the fastest-growing companies in Greater Washington.” To view the digital edition of SmartCEO’s January issue featuring HeiTech Services and the other Future 50 winners, click here.

EPA Administator Honors HeiTech Services

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) honored HeiTech Services, Inc. at the Administrator’s 21st Annual Small Business Awards Ceremony on January 20, 2010 in Washington, D.C. HeiTech Services was selected to receive the EPA Administrator’s Award for Outstanding Accomplishments by a Small Business Contractor for Fiscal Year 2008. President & CEO Heidi W. Gerding attended the ceremony to accept the award.

"We are honored to receive such a prestigious mark of distinction by our federal customer,” says Ms. Gerding. “From the start, my vision was to build a company that delivered services to customers with Honor, Excellence, and Innovation. Being recognized by the EPA Administrator underscores both our ability and commitment to deliver on that promise.”

HeiTech Services was one of only four contractors recognized nationwide for its service to the EPA. The company was recognized for demonstrating outstanding performance and customer service under its Region 4 Records Management contract. At EPA, HeiTech Services provides library management, local records management, and regional records management support for the Regional Record Centers. The HeiTech Services team 1) organizes, maintains, and manages Agency documents throughout the records management lifecycle; 2) collects and inventories records for on-site and off-site storage; and 3) identifies and develops plans for alternative records management approaches.

As part of its comprehensive records management services, HeiTech’s onsite project team provides a full range of legal and business research support to approximately seventy-five attorneys, four paralegals, and the Regional Administrator for the Office of Environmental Accountability. The HeiTech Services staff perform complex queries to compile legal research, collect historical business information, and execute individual background searches.

According to Ms. Shayla Patillo, EPA Project Officer, “HeiTech’s business values are a strong testimony of what a dedicated SDVOSB represents to the small business community.” Ms. Patillo continued, “Over the years, HeiTech has grown to a company with over several hundred employees, thereby adding layers to the management chain. Nevertheless, EPA has continued to have direct interchanges of communication with the President and Vice President, demonstrating HeiTech’s business approach of making time to understand the needs of their customers.”

HeiTech Services Reorganizes the NARIC Library

The National Rehabilitation Information Center (NARIC) is one of HeiTech Services’ longest running and most successful contracts. This U.S. Department of Education library includes seven staff members and a collection of more than 70,000 volumes of disability and rehabilitation research, some of which are unavailable elsewhere. Staff members provide document delivery to agency personnel, researchers, and health professionals. In addition, NARIC is currently in the midst of an extensive digitizing and archiving project of original research from the collection.

HeiTech Services’ continued growth meant a move and reorganization for NARIC, one which has benefited both the staff and the collection. Last month, we moved the entire NARIC collection, as well as the staff, to a large suite on the ground floor of our headquarters building. Putting the books and people together has improved document delivery and sped up the archiving process. Media and Public Education Manager Jessica Chaiken commented: “It’s great! Reorganization of the NARIC library has improved both the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the collection, allowing HeiTech to provide more effective services for our user groups.”

NARIC’s library and service are available to the public. Visit www.naric.com or call 1-800-346-2742 to find out more.
