Guiding the Future: HeiTech Continues its Participation in Annual King’s College Career Day

Today, HeiTech Services renewed its support and participation of King’s College’s Career day in Washington D.C. The annual Career Day event is presented in partnership with the King’s Washington Area Alumni Club (KWAC). This year marks the ninth anniversary of the event and HeiTech’s seventh year participating. King’s College is located in Wilkes-Barre, PA and was founded in 1946 by the Congregation of Holy Cross from the University of Notre Dame.

Approximately 52 current King’s College students travel to Washington, D.C. each year and are hosted overnight by alumni living in the Washington area to participate in a full day of career-oriented program before being bused back to campus. This year’s event opened with a welcome reception at Jones Day law firm in Washington D.C. on November 1. In tradition, HeiTech CEO Heidi Gerding, picked up two students to host for the evening: Caroline Jones and Margaret Bentkowski. King’s College produces some of the most amazing talent and this year did not disappoint.

Caroline Jones is double majoring in Management and Marketing and minoring in Leadership Studies. She is a Presidential Scholarship recipient appearing on the Dean’s List every semester. Caroline has written and published two children’s books and studied abroad in Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary. If that’s not enough, she is also a member of the Miss America Scholarship Organization where she regularly competes in completions, winning several titles.

Heidi’s second student, Margaret Bentkowski is also double majoring in Management and International Business in the McGowan School of Business – an internationally accredited school. She loves international travel and has already been to the Virgin Islands, Belize, Honduras, Mexico, Jamaica, Vietnam, and Singapore. She is on track to graduate early from her program of study so she can enter the workforce to make a difference in the lives of Americans. Margaret has held a number of internships and actively participates in a number of activities including the international business honor society, where she served as the President.

HeiTech’s President, Jim Grimm, addressed the 50+ students participating in this event about how to approach life after college. Craig Hackett, HeiTech’s Chief Human Capital Officer, spoke about components of the job search process, specifically resume preparation and interview techniques. Craig and his HR team, Katie Jonas and Jace Van Sylk, reviewed and commented on each students’ resume and met with each of them individually to discuss the feedback.

“We love participating in this event and giving back to these students who are our future,” stated Gerding. “It’s such a great experience for us, not just the students. We are already looking forward to participating in next year’s event and meeting next year’s students. Best of luck to you all!”
